Mr Sanjith Gnanappiragasam is a highly experienced Consultant Urologist at King’s College Hospital NHS Trust, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of kidney stones, prostate conditions, and a wide range of urinary problems.

 Known for his calm, reassuring manner and commitment to patient-centered care, he ensures every patient feels listened to and supported throughout their treatment journey.

Professional Profile

After completing advanced fellowship training in kidney stone management at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, he joined King’s College Hospital in 2021 and now leads the Stone department.

His clinical practice includes minimally invasive and endourological treatments for renal and ureteric calculi. He performs Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL) and Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy (PCNL), including miniaturised PCNL techniques delivered as day-case surgery where appropriate. 


He has been involved in establishing a day-surgery PCNL service. He was the first surgeon in the UK to introduce robotic intrarenal stone surgery in Kings College NHS Trust.

He has also developed a metabolic stone clinic for individuals at high risk of recurrent stone formation and a
one-stop clinic for the assessment and management of benign prostatic enlargement.

Alongside his clinical work, Mr Gnanappiragasam is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at King’s College London and holds an associate role with the General Medical Council, reflecting his commitment to education, innovation, and the highest standards of medical practice.
